Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks!

June 28, 2009

Once upon a time, I lead a life that grew totally meaningless.

One day I cried out— in all sincerity– i cried out.  I asked; is there meaning?  Is there  reason to live for?

For some reason, in my heart of hearts I got an answer.  It took me a while to realize I did get an answer

I got the message that I am loved … as is every living creature and the structure in which we live and move and have our being.

I heard this in my heart of hearts.  I believed what I heard… without words per say, but the message was clear… “Every hair on your head in numbered.  Every tear you cry is gathered in a bottle.”

I heard it and I believed it, and in fact, I felt it so strong that  I could say, I KNEW  IT.

Meaning is what “I” choose to give something.  “I” ascribe ‘meaning’ according to some subjective Value “I” set.

When I perceived and knew, in my heart, by faith, that Love governs the world, I created meaning and purpose for my life –   I believe Love is the dominant Force that is caring for every living creature and the structural things in the Universe that allow it to be.

Love  –  loves and cares for IT’S creation. (despite all appearances to the contrary)

Concerning the self — the person I heard:

In the Beginning was the Word.

What is a word but and Idea/a thought/well formed?

Jesus identified with the word.  He reflected back to us a message.

The message is that you and me are a Word.

We are an expression.

I am a life, meant to be well lived, in the Beauty of a Character well formed in the smithy of Life’s Truth.

What is life’s Truth?

It is the opportunity to be who I am.

It is the Life I am (in)

I am, in my body, — erotic and sensual

I am, in my mind, — able to think, organize, speak and write.

I am, in my spirit, — wise, loving, understanding and genius…

I am One with Creative and Loving Source.

I am an expression of Beauty and Truth.

I am Love

I am who I am — here — now!

I embrace Love that encourages me to live my life

I embrace Love that consoles me and urges me on to share and express my Self.

And so I have, for today spoken to you, a little, about what moves me and gives me meaning.

I really do believe (know) the despite all contrary evidence we a guided, governed and directed toward a fuller and fuller expression of Love  and Unity of purpose and being, for the sheer Joy of so being.

Do You Choose Life or Death?

June 26, 2009

Integrative and dis-integrative forces affect the ability to release the real self.

An example of integrative energy is LOVE.  Lets say that love is patient, love is kind and that love keeps not score of wrongs.  That means love creates a safe space.  It is integrative.

What happens in society and in ourselves is that we can come to believe that love is something we can earn.  If you are a good little child and do as mommy says, “I will love you”.  At that point it is dis integrative.

So it’s easy to see that if a person is in an atmosphere where there is patience and kindness that person will thrive and become confident and able to express him or herself with clarity and with creativity.

On the other hand if a person is in a situation where anger and judgment prevail it disintegrates the person’s ability to express him or herself.

I remember seeing this in a dramatic way through the lives of mentally challenged people who transitioned from an institution into a loving community setting.

I saw this happen in the l’Arche communities where the mandate is to provide a safe and loving community environment for mentally challenged people.

I don’t know if you’ve ever been in an institution and have witnessed what can happen there.  I have.  The institutions I worked in treated the mentally challenged with a fair degree of aggression.  They could be mocked or laughed at.  They could be made to feel stupid and of no consequence.  They were left alone and sometimes ridiculed.  They were not ‘honored’ for the human beings they are.

The result was often violence and aggression on the part of the mentally challenged person.  More often it was the deep self hatred and self rejection and isolation of the person that developed.

The forces of disintegration were doing their work.

Once a person made the transition into a l”Arche home after some time of experiencing the integrative forces of love that are patience and kindness and saw only the good in the person, these mentally challenged people could flower and become alive and joyful and expressive in such a way as to become models of human beauty and integration.

After some time of being surrounded with love and affection and acceptance Bobby who was self inflicting wounds on himself began to smile and to show real concern for others and to show a wisdom that was healing to everyone who came in contact with him.

Dis-integrative energies include hate, fear, anger, envy, guilt, jealousy and the like.

Just think what we do when we spend a lot of time listening to the NEWS for example.  It’s amazing that we live in a world where we have a ‘information system’ that we can tune into that feeds us or gives us details from anywhere in the world in a moment of the most terrible human acts and of the most terrible and tragic human events going on.

Think about that for a minute.  Imagine what exposing yourself to these dis-integrative forces, as a constant diet, does to you as a person?

I you spend a lot of your time in a day reflecting on dis-integrative forces happening in the world, will it not have a dis-integrative impact on you and create dis-ease in your life?

I find it amazing that we tolerate and expose ourselves so easily to all of these dis-integrative negative forces and think nothing of it.  Then we wonder why the world is as it is and why we feel tired and miserable.

To become aware is the first step in choosing.

Do you choose Life?  Do you surround yourself with integrative forces? (love, patience, kindness…)

Or do you choose Death?  Do you surround yourself with dis-integrative forces? (hate, fear, harshness…)

The 1st choice ‘frees’ the person.  The 2nd choice ’stifles’ the creative person that you are.

What do you think?

Peace and Blessing,

Norm.

Stop Being a Victim, Educate Yourself

June 21, 2009

Are you familiar with the movie ‘the secret’ and the concept of the Law of Attraction?

Do you remember that first spark of hope you felt when you watched The Secret? I clearly remember the desire that filled my heart, knowing that – Yes, I can make my dreams come true – FINALLY!

But how many of you soon saw that hope dwindle into frustration? How many of you (and be honest now) started muttering things like:

- “It seems to work for other people, but I just can’t get it right.”

- “I’m frustrated that sometimes I can get it to work, but sometimes I can’t. What’s the trick?”

- “Why am I having so much trouble?”

- “I think the universe is against me.”

- “I’m trying very, VERY hard but still nothing is happening!”

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. About 97% of people also couldn’t make the Law of Attraction work for them the first time round. Think about it, just like anything else, you have to practice many times before you see success. A child doesn’t learn to walk without falling over a couple of times, right? Learning to co-operate with the Laws of the Universe is no different.

In fact, we all know that  in practice, everything is easier said than done. When you’re frustrated, it’s hard to stay positive. And it’s especially hard to stay positive when the evidence all around you is screaming about negativity like the unstable economy or senseless acts of violence such as those recently seen in Mumbai.

And do you know what happens when you fail to stay positive? That’s right – you start attracting negative things in to your life.

So how can you make the Law of Attraction work for you – without getting frustrated? How do those who successfully implement the Law of Attraction do it with such confidence and finesse?

Well, here’s three quick tips so you will never feel frustrated or tired of begging from the universe, because you know how to start manifesting like a pro.

1. Allow Yourself To Receive

Just like a lost child who approaches a police officer and asks, “Excuse me Sir, can you tell me how to go to the post office? Can you? Can you? Can you? Can you? Can you?” Well, if the child goes on and on asking, the police officer can’t even give an answer, right?

Well, it’s the same thing with your mind. If the only thing your mind is doing is transmit, transmit, transmit, the universe — which is trying to respond — can’t give you a single thing because you’re not allowing yourself to receive!

So, have the confidence in yourself and stop exhausting yourself by running around person to person begging for riches, and then wondering why nobody is dropping a penny in your cup (Hint: It’s because you’re running away too fast for them before they can even reach for their wallets). Relax, learn to trust that you will receive.

Just think of your desires and leave it out there, go away, and trust that your cup will be filled with gold coins (or whatever it is you asked for) when the time is right.

2. Be Patient With Yourself

Receiving takes time.  The distance between desiring something and it manifesting is the measure of your faith.
Sadly, many people give up just a couple of steps before the finish line because they’ve decided that if it’s not working by now, it’s never going to work at all. Worse still are those who throw in more and more energy because they think that with more resources, the results will come faster.

Its not about self will and effort.  Its about learning to come to the point of ‘faith’ in yourself.  And we all need help to learn to do that.

In simple terms: Everything in this world has a natural development time, and this fact will not change no matter what resources you throw at it.

So relax and be patient. Remember that you too, as part of the universe, are also governed by the laws of the universe, and you cannot change the natural development time.

If you remember this, you will less likely work yourself up into frustration, or worse, push yourself into a downward spiral of negativity.

3. Support and Educate Yourself

Like the child who is learning how to walk, you need support. You also need to guidance on how to do it, and also the role models to look up to.

Many people give up because they think that “The Secret” is the “be all and end all” solution. Well, it’s NOT. “The Secret” is just a small portion. It is an introduction to a new way of thinking. It was never intended, and has never been, the whole answer.

Coming to the conclusion that the Law of Attraction doesn’t work when all you ever did to educate yourself was watch “The Secret” 19 times (without looking at changing the habits of other areas of your life) is like coming to the conclusion that exercising is not an effective way to lose weight because all you did is run on the treadmill for 2 hours a day (but you’re still stuffing yourself with fried foods and cheesecakes).

So seek and be hungry for new knowledge. Also, make an effort to be amongst people or communities where you can support each other, learn from each other and also share new knowledge that you have found.

While the Law of Attraction is not an overnight delivery service, it will indeed deliver, if you do your part too!

Love to learn and you will grow.

Norm

The Law of Circulation

June 15, 2009

I’ve been reflecting on the Law of Circulation lately.  This is a concept I picked up from Thomas Troward.

The Law of Circulation is linked to the law of Growth.

Circulation means a continual flowing around.  As long as there is FLOW there is growth.

I was at an art exhibit of a friends on the weekend.  She creates these interesting figures.  They were all strung up on the wall of the exhibit area and as I pondered on their beauty a line came to I make dreams realmy mind: bobbing in Substance.

There beautiful figurines were so serene and kind of grew on me as I allowed myself to be touched by them.

Bobbing in substance is like each of us in the great stream of Consciousness we could call God, or Good.  It is the great Living Flow.  Andrea’s art really does give you that feeling of being happy.  Check it out.  Let me know what you think.

The theme of her show was; let’s all live happily ever after.  If your interested go and visit her site at www.abccreativity.com.

Peace.

Oh What Tangled Webs We Weave!

June 12, 2009

We dwell in the midst of the chaos of disordered thinking. Wouldn’t you agree?

Author Dean Radin recently wrote a book called Entangled Minds.

St Paul in the New testament wrote; ‘ we are blown here and there by every wind of doctrine’.

The result of this reality is that we go around in circles.  In some cases this running around drives people crazy enough that they take their own lives or live in a constant state of depression, fear and doubt.

Thomas Troward in a paper on “The Hidden Power” writes: the great object to which the instructed mind directs its power is to free itself from the entanglements of disordered thoughts and to help others to do the same.  To escape from this entanglement is to attain perfect Liberty which is perfect Power.

Disordered thinking happens when we forget the big picture.  For example it may be cloudy and rainy days on end.  The drizzle and the dark can start to ‘affect’ our thinking.  Life ‘feels’ dark and dismal.  One might start to think that all of life is not worth living under those conditions.  Yet, as we who have flown in a plane can attest, the sun is ‘always shining’ even when the clouds make life dismal.  I’m sure you have experienced getting on a plane on a rainy day and look out the window to see the grey clouds all around, obstructing your view.  Then all of a sudden the plane passes through the bank of clouds and lo and behold there is the sun.  It was there all along.

I always find that such a great experience.  When I see that sun and the clouds now under me, as the plane makes its way to its destination.  I might observe that my thinking is restored to a more hopeful and joyful state.

What has changed?  Only my perception.  The “REALITY” of the sun was always there.  I only lost track of it for a time.

So is it with our thinking about life and our circumstances. I we are focused on the drizzle and the clouds it gets all tangled up.  We no longer ‘think’ straight because we have lost site of reality.

Troward in his writings always encourages his readers to think from the cause or the source and in that way our thinking gets adjusted.  Little by little as we learn to think from the SOURCE OR REALITY ALL THE TANGLED WEBS WE WOVE START TO GET UNDONE…

Here are words of another author, Ernest Holmes, to sum up our refection for today.  “…We mus turn entirely away from the ‘condition’.  Disease and limitation are neither person, place, no thing. Turn entirely from the condition, or limited situation, to its opposite, to the realization of health, happiness and harmony.”

He goes on to say that our thinking must start with Perfect God, Perfect Man, and Perfect Being and from that point we can begin to rectify our faulty thinking which is realy at the basis of any misery we might be experiencing.

A thought for the day.

Peace.
